SEN is a non-governmental organization (NGO) established in March 2001 to promote Sustainable Lifestyles and to reduce the Global footprint of Nepal.. It was established as a sister organization of the Dutch nonprofit De Kleine Aarde(The Small Earth ).

    SEN’s core mission is to focus on conservation activities, such as campaigning against the overexploitation of earth’s limited resources and in engaging the public through programs that teach individuals of all ages and background on how to minimize their impacts on those resources. Such activities are intended to motivate individuals and organizations, private business and government agencies to pursue sustainable development and system-resilient choices in their day to day workings. Since SEN is committed to achieve a balance in human –environment interactions through original research that enhances the knowledge framework that inform both policy and advocacy and through diffused activities that affect changes in the everyday lives of individuals regardless of background.

    SEN mission is to direct its activities towards:

    • Supporting capacity building
    • Motivating individuals to make more earth-friendly choices
    SEN deploys a multi-dimensional and comprehensive approach in its advocacy not only developing far-reaching programs in Nepal but also collaborating with organizations and researchers from around the region and across the world to fulfill its vision of sustainable human-environment interactions.
    At present, SEN’s programs are divided into four general categories: research, publication, capacity building, and awareness.
