The Small Earth Nepal (SEN) organized a half day training workshop on ‘Story Telling’ for the project staffs and collaborators under the project ‘Adaptation to Climate Change by Livestock Smallholders in Gandaki River Basin, Nepal’. This is a joint project of The Small Earth Nepal (SEN), City University of New York (CUNY), and Colorado State University (CSU) and funded by USAID Livestock-Climate Change Collaborative Research Support Program (LCC CRSP). Mr. Saurav Dhakal, Story Teller, along with Mr. Ankur Sharma and Mr. Swapnil Acharya were the resource persons for the training workshop. The objective of the training was to acquaint the project staff on how to collect the story from the field and make them public in an effective way.

Story telling is a way of making voice laud for the people who want to make their voice heard by concerned authority, policy makers and among other general public. Several stories hidden in community may give milestones to the community when heard by the outer world. Effective story telling skills make those stories more appealing and can attract the attention of other.

The workshop with three presentations was divided into two sessions. The first session was focused on theoretical aspects of storytelling and innovative ideas in different context. The second session was mainly focused on technical aspect on modern story telling using digital media like photography and videography. The workshop was concluded with the video recording of some of the participants of their mock interviews. Altogether 15 members were benefitted from the workshop that are now anticipated to contribute to the project on documenting field stories, making them a presentable form in digital media and disseminating them to the outer world and also back to the community and people whose stories are being told.
