THE SMALL EARTH NEPAL

The Small Earth Nepal (SEN) collaborated with FORCE Nepal to organize the 3rd Sankhu Plastic Free Campaign from 2nd Magh to 2nd Falgun 2070. The campaign has been mobilizing thousands of volunteers since 2011 to exchange the plastic with eco-friendly bags from the devotees who visit the Salinadi Mela and to reduce the use of plastic bags which are less than 20 microns.

This year, SEN will be sensitizing 20 schools which have already been engaged in solid waste management activities like Best from Waste Programs and Clean up Nepal Campaign. Being of great religious value, this campaign is trying to spread the message, “Get rid of your SIN, Say no to plastic and keep SALINADI CLEAN.”

Acknowledging their active participation for better environment, 30 students from each of twenty schools will volunteer in the campaign, collect the plastic bags and under a guidance of their focal teacher, the plastic bags will be taken to their schools where they will make different articles out of the plastic bags. The so prepared articles will be exhibited in the closing ceremony of Sankhu Plastic Free Campaign.

This event will be continued as one of the regular activities of SEN under Clean up Nepal Campaign, this year onward.
