Photo Competition On the theme  ‘Water for All’

On the occasion of
Nepal National Water and Weather Week 2019

Deadline: 14 March 2019

Background
Water is a vital natural source and its adequate management is thus a fundamental component in environmental politics. About 1.2 billion people and more are in lack accessing drinking water this is because of the rising temperature, and changing precipitation pattern coupled with population growth induced by climate change is severely affecting water resource availability and food security. Because of improper access to safe drinking water or water as a production resource, their choices and freedoms are hindered by disease, poverty, and vulnerability.
The Nepal National Water and Weather Week (NNWWW) have successfully made a mark on the environmental calendar of Nepal since its inception a decade ago. The weeklong event (17 March – 23 March), basically highlights two of the most important days celebrated worldwide, namely World Water Day (March 22) and World Meteorological Day (March 23). World Water Day is celebrated every year on 22nd of March by the people all across the world. It was first officially added in the schedule 21 of the year 1992 “United Nations Conference on Environment and Development” in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil.
The theme designated for the World Water Day 2019 is “leaving no one behind”, which intends to ensure no one is left behind in terms of water conservation and safe water consumption. The theme “leaving no one behind” will help in fulfilling the 2030 sustainable development goals through sensitizing the policy makers in inclusive participation of all the stakeholders in water related issues; conservation and safe water consumption. That helps to tackle the water crisis by sustainable managing the natural resources (fresh water) and by addressing the reason why so many people are being left behind.
