Talk Program by Dr. Juan F. Arratia: STEM and Opportunities of Engagement in the International Research Network

 

We cordially invite you to a Talk Program: STEM and Opportunities of Engagement in the International Research Network by Fulbright Specialist Dr. Juan Arratia.

Dr. Arratia is the Research Professor and Mentor, President and Founder of the Scientific Caribbean Foundation, Inc., Puerto Rico, United States of America. 

The talk will cover  background of Puerto Rico, historical perspectives, industrial base, university environment, and tourism followed by describing the Model Institutions for Excellence (MIE) grant. Dr. Juan will focus on the model, the funding, and activities at the pre-college and undergraduate level as well as the bridge to graduate school for economically disadvantaged minorities. In addition, Dr. Juan will talk about the Saturday Research Academy (SRA), summer research experiences for K-12 students, and at the undergraduate level, and describe the scholarship program and summer research at US mainland institutions and abroad. 

The Small Earth Nepal (SEN) is a leading NGO empowering individuals through research, capacity building, and awareness-raising initiatives. SEN emphasizes research and effective science communication initiatives, spanning from grassroots school-level engagement to high-level policy discussions. It is serving as a bridge between the public and private sectors, academia, and government agencies.

The program is jointly organized by SEN and Universal Engineering and Science College in collaboration with the Asia-Pacific Network for Global Change Research (APN), Nepal Development Research Institute (NDRI), Tribhuvan University (TU), Tribhuvan University Alumni Association Nepal (TUAAN) and UNESCO Nepal.
